Set up in September, 1952, China JK Geotechnical Institute (former Survey and Testing Company of No.1 Machinery Industrial Ministry and Geotechnical Institute of National Machinery Industrial Ministry) is a large-scale comprehensive investigation and design unit of state level, which has been granted honors and titles such as “National Top 100 Engineering Investigation and Design Enterprises”, “National Credit Enterprise”, “National Outstanding Investigation and Design Institute”, “National Advanced Engineering Investigation and Design Enterprise”, and “Credit Grade AAA Enterprise” etc by National Construction Ministry, National Statistics Bureau, National Industrial and Commercial Administration and Management General Bureau, and China Construction Bank etc..
　　Being a state level 1st scientific research unit, with a leading position of technical level in the Chinese geotechnical field, JK’s professional and technical talents takes up more than 70% of its total 400 staff, among whom nearly 100 are senior engineers (with more than 30 professor-level senior engineers), more than 100 are national registers of various fields, and more than 20 are either experts enjoying special governmental subsidy, provincial and ministerial experts with outstanding contributions, or provincial excellent investigation and design masters; in addition, there are three “National Investigation and Design Masters”----Zhang Sumin, Zhang Kuangcheng and Zhang Wei----in China JK Geotechnical Institute.
　　JK has qualifications and certificates issued by the National Construction Ministry, National Development and Reform Committee, National Survey and Mapping Bureau and Railway Ministry etc such as Comprehensive First-class Engineering Investigation and Design Certificate, First-class Survey and Mapping Certificate, First-class Geological Disaster Evaluation, Investigation, Design and Construction Certificate, First-class Engineering Consulting Certificate, First-class Foundation and Fundamental Project Construction Certificate, and Foundation Pile Testing Certificate of the Railway Ministry etc.; and it is also the location of the Shaanxi Artificial Foundation No.1 Testing Station; in addition, JK has passed the certification of the Quality Management System, the Environment Management System and the Vocational Health and Safety Management System as well, all of which enable JK to be capable of providing our clients with all-round and coordinated-process engineering construction services concerning geotechnical engineering such as investigation, design, construction, testing, monitoring, engineering survey and geological disaster prevention and treatment etc. Up to now, branches have been set up in Beijing, Lanzhou, Xining and Hangzhou etc.
　　Over the past half a century, under the warm attention from leaders of various levels and massive support from all works of life, through diligence and labor of several generations by the JK people, China JK Geotechnical Institute has been developed into a well-known geotechnical engineering investigation unit both inside and outside China, which plays a positive role in the development and technical progress of the engineering investigation industry in China, with its projects distributed among 30 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China and more than 10 countries in Asia, Africa and Middle & South America etc. 12,000 odd projects concerning engineering survey, design, construction, testing and supervision have been conducted successfully by the JK people; and at the same time, JK undertakes more than 100 national and provincial scientific research programs, while is also responsible for the editing or examination of more than 50 national, professional and regional standards, regulations and rules, and handbooks. Since 1986, JK has been awarded more than 30 National Scientific Progress Prizes, Scientific Achievement Prizes and Outstanding Project Prizes, and more than 150 ministerial and provincial prizes, making great contribution to the national economic construction and social progress.
